This week, we are reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault. We love this rhyming ABC story about all the lowercase letters meeting at the top of the coconut tree. You probably know Bill Martin Jr. from his other books in the Brown Bear series! The babies like this book for the same reasons they enjoy Brown Bear, Polar Bear, Panda Bear, and Baby Bear...the bright colored illustrations against a white background and the rhythmic, repetitive text.

I'm a fan of alphabet books and when I'm reading with the babies, I like to stop and point out "their" letters, R and F, when we come upon them in the story. I also like that our board book is the full version of the story (per Amazon, I believe there is an abridged version!). The repeating phrase of chicka chicka boom boom is fun to say and you can easily add movements or actions like clapping when you say it. So much fun!
