Baby A woke up early from her nap one afternoon last week so I decided to take advantage of the one on one time to make some play dough. We take a toddler class once a week and the teacher makes the best play dough so we used her recipe. I decided to go with a St. Patrick's Day theme and made two batches. This play dough is so easy to make, the perfect consistency, and I know what is in it in case any of the dough makes its way to toddler mouths.
For this recipe, you will need:
- flour
- cream of tartar
- salt
- water
- oil
- food coloring
The babies have just become interested in helping in the kitchen, so this activitiy was perfect. Baby A helped me with each step except cooking on the stove.
We started by pouring and mixing the dry ingredients.
Then we added the wet ingredients and food coloring. I used green with a few drops of blue in my first batch.
Then I cooked the mixture briefly on the stove and it became dough-like.
Once a more solid dough formed, I scooped the mixture out onto parchment paper.
After a few minutes of kneading, it was the perfect play dough!I made a second batch of play dough and added yellow food coloring, small green glitter, and large gold glitter.
Baby B especially loves play dough and he asks to play with it pretty much every day!
