My sweet babies are officially 6 months old this week! Like most moms, I just can't believe it! At this half-year mark I've been doing some reflecting on what I've learned about myself and being a new twin mama. One thing that has been really important to me is having a twin mama motto.
Do you have a mama motto? I have been saying my motto to myself to help me embrace and enjoy all the craziness that comes with twin babies and focus on what really matters.
My twin mama motto is something my mother-in-law said to me when the babies were itty bitty newborns: you can clean your fridge when they're 30. She was cleaning our fridge as she said it while I was lamenting how I felt like I couldn't keep up with the endless chores around the house.
This motto goes hand in hand with a hashtag I've seen around on Instagram: #babiesdontkeep. Like I said, these past 6 months have flown by and the babies are changing and growing on a daily basis. I am constantly reminding myself of this and it's helped me slow down, focus on my sweet babies, and really absorb them in the moment.
There are always a million things on my to do list (I'm sitting next to a legit mountain of laundry, I haven't vacuumed in a week, and a jar of something leaked in the fridge days ago, to name a few) but babies don't keep and sneaking a snuggly nap with them or letting them splash in an extra long tubby is a better use of my time. I can clean my fridge when they're 30.
